Balalae Island (or Ballale/ Ballali) is an island of the Shortland Islands Group in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.

Central Province's 1000 sq km comprises the islands of Savo, Russells and Ngella. Its has a close proximity to Honiara and has many large-scale copra plantation developments

Abundant deserted sandy beaches where turtles swim and breed. Three quarters of Choiseul province's 16,600 Melanesian people live in the main island's western half and there are a further 2,000 Gilbertese living in Wagina.

Gizo is the capital of the Western Province in the Solomon Islands. With a population of 6,154, it is the second largest town in the country. It is situated on Ghizo Island approximately 380 kilometres west-northwest of the capital, Honiara, and is just southwest of the larger island of Kolombangara.

Guadalcanal, where the country's capital Honiara is located, is the largest island in the Solomons group. Honiara is the Solomons melting pot, where people from all over the country come to work, take their holidays, or just to shop.
